We believe a strong, supportive network office helps our financial representatives be successful and more importantly, helps clients achieve their goals. Education, recognition and compensation are at the heart of our organization. We value teamwork, camaraderie, and community service. Northwestern Mutual - Utica sponsors many community activities and many of our financial representatives enjoy being a part of these events.

Supporting the development of our financial representatives helps strengthen Northwestern Mutual. We provide continuous opportunities for advancement through specialization and leadership training. Everyone’s career path is unique, so our independent financial representatives control the choices they make to help direct and further their careers.

Specialization - The opportunity to specialize in market niches such as disability income, long-term care, annuities and investments. Representatives may also choose to become financial advisors of Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, LLC or wealth management advisors of Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management Company®.

Leadership - After establishing your practice, you may choose to pursue a leadership role within the Network. Leadership roles offer growth opportunities through recruitment, development and retention of fellow representatives, by opening new offices, strengthening existing ones and supplying the overall structure and support to maintain and grow the Network.

There is no one way to explore leadership opportunities. Everyone's career path is unique. If entering a leadership role interests you, know that you can also maintain your own practice while helping other representatives build their own.

Leadership opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leadership through Education, Achievement & Development (L.E.A.D.): Provides access to an exclusive training curriculum that will help you develop the skills needed to take on a leadership role.​​
  • College Unit Director (CUD): Lead a group of energized college interns, taking part in "One of America's Top Ten Internships, 1997-2018."* Read more about our top-rated internship program.​
  • Growth and Development Director (GDD): Grow your integrated personal practice while also being responsible for attracting, developing and retaining successful financial representatives.
  • Field Director (FD): Assist in the recruitment, selection, & development of new financial representatives and advisors in order to build a cohesive and productive team.​
  • Managing Director (MD): Take on the unique challenge of balancing personal production and managing a district network office.​
  • Managing Partner (MP): Create a vision and be responsible for the overall success of a network office that will include three to six district offices.
